Have you found out more info on moving to Chile since posting this message? I am a North American, from California, living in Santiago. I have lived in Chile for around 3 years and I could help you out a lot. My wife is Chilean... so I definitley have a foot in each world - "gringo" y Chileno. Not everything is easy about moving here... but I imagine there are many countries where things are more difficult, tricky, and "dangerous." Chilean are generally very welcoming to foreigners... but, you still have to be aware of their "traditional" and specific ways - of living, communicating, doing business, etc.. contact me for more info.
